The clitoral hood has several shape varieties of inverted V, draped V variation, U, Y, and I, and bifurcated – no hood, with V and variations on V being the most common. Similar to the sheath, hoods may also be vectored, with or without a vectored sheath. Alphabetic letters are used to describe the hood varieties, and from this point forward, hood shapes will be assumed designated as the letter type, dropping the inverted descriptor.
Hoods are best described in the closed position.
The Y Hood above is usually due to a vectored hood or sheath, also illustrated below.
Sheaths that are bifurcated may result in no discernible hood as shown below.
