Labia
Female Orchid Classification System
Introduction
The following Labia Sections describe four descriptive components of the labia: Extent, Contribution, Distinction and Shape.
A general note about size. The following labia description sections do not define the size of this orchid feature. This is because amongst all orchids, labia have the most variations in both shape and size. The only way to be truly objective about the labia size is to empirically measure each labium. Currently, there is very little labium measurement data available in print or on the internet for useful comparisons.
Further, the limited data available on labium measurement is of minimal value since those measurements do not account for the physical differences in overall female size and height. One would expect there is a relationship between the overall physical size of a woman and the size of her labia. The problem this exposes is that a six foot four woman compared to a four foot eight woman, labial variations aside, would presumably have different size labia, with some unknown component of that size difference being attributable to overall anatomical size differences.
The problem of the labial size component relationship and a proposed future empirical measurement methodology were instrumental in how, not just labia but other orchid features, were categorized and defined. In short, there is a method to normalize the measurements of orchid features to account for these overall size differences that will be in a future release of FOCS.
The following Labia Sections detail the most common features and variations in the labia minora.
